Frequently asked questions.
Nutrition Counseling
(Insurance-Based Services)
DO you accept insurance?
Yes. We are in-network with select insurance plans. Coverage varies by plan and benefit structure.
We recommend completing our insurance benefit verification before your first appointment so you know exactly what to expect.
What is insurance benefit verification?
Benefit verification allows us to check:
Whether your plan covers nutrition services
If a referral is required
Your copay, deductible, or coinsurance
Any visit limits per year
This helps prevent unexpected bills and ensures transparency before care begins.
Does verifying benefits guarantee coverage?
No. Benefit verification is an estimate based on information provided by your insurance company. Final coverage is determined by your insurer at the time of claim processing.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Some insurance plans require a referral, while others do not. We will notify you during benefit verification if one is needed.
What happens during the first appointment?
Your initial visit includes:
Medical history and lab review (if available)
Nutrition assessment
Goal setting
Personalized nutrition plan
Education tailored to your condition or performance goals
How long are appointments?
Initial visit: typically 60 minutes
Follow-ups: 30–45 minutes
How often will I need to meet with you?
Frequency depends on your goals, medical needs, and insurance coverage. Many clients start with visits every 1-2 weeks and adjust over time.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available and covered by many insurance plans.
What if my insurance doesn’t cover nutrition services?
Self-pay options are available. Transparent pricing can be found on our Services page.
Do you provide meal plans?
We provide structured nutrition guidance tailored to your lifestyle, preferences, and goals. This may include sample meal ideas, timing strategies, and macronutrient guidance rather than rigid meal plans.
Who do you work with?
We work with:
Individuals managing diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic conditions
Athletes and active adults seeking performance optimization
Anyone looking for a clinically sound, sustainable nutrition approach
The questions below apply to self-pay services offered for gym members and active individuals. These services are seperate from insurance-based nutrition counseling.
Nutrition Services for Gym Members & Active Individuals
(Self-Pay Services)
Do I need to be an athlete to work with you?
No. These services are for active individuals, gym members, and anyone who wants practical nutrition guidance that supports training, recovery, and everyday life…not just competitive athletes.
Is this meal planning or macro coaching?
No. While nutrition targets may be discussed when appropriate, sessions focus on education, strategy, and habits…not rigid meal plans or one-size-fits-all macro prescriptions.
How is this different from online coaching or apps?
This is one-on-one nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian. Sessions are individualized, interactive, and adjusted based on your goals, training demands, and lifestyle…not automated plans or generic advice.
How often should I book sessions?
That depends on your goals. Some people prefer occasional check-ins, while others benefit from consistent monthly support. We’ll choose an approach that fits your needs and schedule.
Do I have to track my food?
No. Nutrition strategies are individualized. Some people prefer structure, others prefer flexibility. We’ll focus on what actually works for you.
Is this in person or virtual?
Both options may be available depending on scheduling and location. Details will be shared at booking.
What if I’m busy or inconsistent with my schedule?
That’s normal. Sessions are designed to be realistic and flexible, not perfect. The goal is progress over time, not all-or-nothing behavior.
How do I get started?
You can book directly through the website. Once booked, you’ll complete a short intake, so sessions are personalized from the start.
